Meet Our Lead
Karel Mc Intosh

Founder
Communication Performance Consultant
Executive & Team Coach
In 2011, Virgin Holidays’ Managing Director, Amanda Willis CBE, told Karel, “You’re motivated by helping people.” Years later, it’s still true. She just built a company around it.
Karel founded Livewired Group in 2013. She helps leaders and teams communicate strategically so they can improve results and have better days at work.
Her work sits inside the moments that shape leadership and team performance: the conversation that has to happen, the idea that has to land, the tension that cannot keep being avoided, and the decision people must be able to act on.
How she works
Karel creates warm, structured spaces where people can say what’s really going on. She’s warm and funny, but she won’t help you talk around the issue.
She listens for what keeps repeating, questions the easy explanation, and helps people see how their own habits shape what happens next. Drawing on communication, coaching and behavioural science, she helps leaders and teams work out what needs to change—and what they can do about it.
A career shaped by how messages land
Karel’s career has always circled around one question: how do messages really land with real people?
For more than 22 years, she’s worked across corporate communication, marketing, public relations, publishing and facilitation. Before starting Livewired Group, she worked in marketing and PR across financial services, tourism and transport. She knows what communication asks of people when the work is public, pressured and accountable.
She’s seen how communication plays out in boardrooms, campaigns, training rooms and newsrooms—and what helps people get aligned, make decisions and move the work forward. Since 2009, she’s worked with organisations including EY, Scotiabank, the Inter-American Development Bank and the Massy Group.
That mix of strategy and creativity shapes how Karel works with leaders and teams today. She stays close to the message and its impact on people, helping make big ideas clear and useful.
